A duty solicitor is a qualified solicitor who can provide free legal advice at the police station. There is a rota of duty solicitors available.
You can ask the police to contact the duty solicitor for you. The police should arrange this when you request it.
The duty solicitor can advise you before and during a police interview. They can also advise on bail and other procedures.
If you prefer to use your own solicitor, you can ask the police to contact them instead. Your own solicitor may be able to attend if they are available.
